Busy Summer

I have not posted in forever! How bad! These past few weeks have been pretty crazy.
6.12.10

This year, Shawn and I decided to take a trip to celebrate our 8th wedding anniversary. Here Shawn and Tynan eat eggies at Grandma Doreen's house the day before the flight out. Tynan stayed with Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Eric and Aunt Nikki. He pretty much ruled the roost! I think he had more fun than we did! When we arrived to pick him up, I think he couldn't decide what made him more upset; that we'd left him or that we'd come back to get him!

Crib Recall

Tynan's crib got recalled. I guess the company is no longer around and there was something wrong with the bed supports and an infant death was reported. So we had to disassemble his crib and take it the the store for a refund. I know it took me a long time to get comfortable with Tynan sleeping in his own room in a crib, but I actually had a difficult time taking it apart. That crib helped return my sanity! When he started sleeping through the night and napping consistently, it was cause for celebration!

We picked out a new crib (we don't think Tynan is ready for a big boy bed just yet) and put it together, and here it is:

I sterilized the rain forest soother so much after Tynan's little "fingerpainting incident" that I was a bit worried it wouldn't work again. But no, it's still soothing along. (Phew! I already spent way too much on replacement books!)

See how much Tynan likes his new crib?

More on the Swing

5.23.10
Tynan figured out how to swing on the see saw!

Trucks!

5.21.10

Not long after Tynan's blue crayon period, he discovered a different painting medium. Apparently kids don't think that it stinks at this age. And it spreads so easily. He decided to spread it over his hands. And the crib. And the rain forest soother. And the blankets. And the book he insisted on bringing to bed for his nap. (Oh boy, the joys of parenthood!) Anyway, long story short, one of Tynan's favorite books got ruined during this whole thing, so we headed off to the book store to see if we could find another copy.

I couldn't find the same book, but I ended up buying Tynan six books. Four of them are Bright Baby books and he loves them! I wish I had found them sooner!

The four Bright Baby books come in a box set and they are Colors, Animals, First Words, and Trucks. Trucks is his favorite! He calls every truck in it "car." Such a cutie.

Sleepy pt. 2

5.16.10

Tynan loves to sleep on Daddy! Tynan has been waking up in the night about once a week or every other week. I think maybe his 2 year molars are coming in. On this day he woke up very early and we couldn't get him to sleep again. So we went about our day, and about an hour before nap time Tynan couldn't go any longer.

I'm not sure why he's holding the remote. The TV wasn't on. Is it like a security blanket or something?

Sleepy

5.12.10

I came out of the bedroom in the morning and found this. Guess Tynan wanted a little company during the night.

Swinging Along

5.8.10

Shawn was able to put up a fence so we have a private back yard. Awesome! We also got the swing set from Grandpa Bob and Grandma Doreen's house. It is pretty neat.

P.S. The whole neighborhood seemed to be blanketed with dandelions! Shawn sprayed the lawn and they all went to seed. Hopefully the fence will help keep them out.

Picasso Jr.

5.3.10

Welcome to Tynan's Art Show. He calls this piece "Carrots + Blue Crayon." It is a wax/food on linoleum.

Tynan told me he calls this one "Crayon on Fresh Paint." It is a continuation of his "Blue Crayon" series. He must be having a Blue Crayon Period.

Well, at least the budding artist isn't too afraid to get his hands dirty. . . Or clean!
P.S. Not long after completing his first set of masterpieces, Tynan stripped himself and weeweed on our living room curio. If there was any doubt we have a toddler on our hands, it's obliterated now!

First Sunburn

4.19.10

Pull out the baby book! This one goes on the Parents of the Year Awards page! Tynan got his first sunburn today. His cheeks and arms are pink. He neck is VERY pink, but you can't see it too well in this picture. Tynan is not very good at holding still for pictures for some strange reason.
;-)

Animal Time!

4.18.10

Grandma Doreen and Grandpa Bob came for a weekend visit. The weather was really nice and we decided to go to the zoo. Here is Tynan helping Grandma put on sunscreen on the drive over.

Here is Tynan being too timid to feed the goats. Silly boy! I could tell when he saw the animals. He thinks anything with four legs is a dog, and he will bark. He also says "doggie" but it kind of sounds like "daddy."

Tynan probably had the most fun on the slide. He came out like this, laughing. He jumped up and ran to the stairs to do it again!

This picture is kind of sweet. I wish the digital camera didn't have such a delay though. It would have been better with different timing. (They are each raising a leg. Kind of reminiscent of a row of urinals in a public bathroom!)
