This is so stinking cute! Tynan got clothes, a Fisher Price pelican, a teething ring, and a teddy bear that is bigger than he is! He probably had the most fun with the wrapping paper though. That's how it always is, right?

Tynan is usually pretty content when we put him on the floor. If we put him on his tummy, he reaches for his toys and kicks his little feet and picks up his chest. If we put him on his back, we make sure he has room to roll to his right (cause he still doesn't roll to the left) and he rolls to his tummy pretty quickly and then hangs out there for a while.
Until now!!! I just happened to be recording when he did this! I think this time was sort of an accident, but he liked it so much he kept on doing it. (Although he probably also liked the way mommy cheered him on. . . What have I done?) So if he's suddenly twice as mobile, and he's at the stage where he puts everything into his mouth, we definitely have a bit of a problem on our hands. . .
A lady who works in the department next to mine brought her son in one day, and he was wearing these super awesome guitar shoes. I did a little online investigating and found the shoes on babycenter.com's store website and decided that, even if I was a great big copycat, I had to buy them for Tynan. And then, even though he does not need shoes, seeing as how he does not walk, I had to put them on him. (They actually held his socks on, so they really do have a purpose even at this early date!) And then, of course, I had to take a picture! He must have his mommy's feet though; he needs shoes in extra wide sizes. . .

Tynan tried some rice cereal today! This is actually the second time he has tried it. The first time, earlier this week, Shawn tried to give him some cereal when I was at work. So I wasn't able to get any pictures of Tynan's first taste of real food! I told Shawn he was in trouble. Tynan didn't eat any of the cereal then (he spit it back out then turned away), so this is technically the first time eating solid food, but I'm definitely not letting Shawn off the hook for a while!

Tynan has gotten so much faster at rolling over! He still only rolls to the right from back to stomach, but he is practicing rolling to the left. He doesn't like to be on his back anymore, though, so he hasn't even tried rolling from front to back!
I keep waking up at night and can't get back to sleep until after checking on Tynan. So I woke up after sleeping four hours and went to check on Tynan early this morning and this is what I found! He was on his tummy with his right arm pinned underneath him and his little neck twisted as far as it could go to the right, with his nose pressed up against the mattress. So not only did he look totally uncomfortable, he was also not sleeping on his back. And his nose was pressed up against the mattress!! I tried to put him back on his back. . . He is a stubborn little guy. So then I couldn't get back to sleep. He slept an almost seven hour stretch last night and I slept only four. If I won the lottery or something, I'd pay someone to watch Ty sleep so that I could finally get some sleep myself. Only I'd probably get up to make sure the person was still awake and actually watching Tynan. . .
Tynan's pediatrician's nurse said I should just have another baby. I guess parents are more relaxed the second time around? I've heard some say that they put Baby #2 down lovingly in the crib, then shut the door and don't come back till morning. I would probably just worry twice as much!
I am laughing so loud in this video that you can hardly hear Ty laughing. I can't help it though, he's just so cute! He kept sliding down on the pillow so he doesn't look very comfortable, poor guy.

This is so sweet! Tynan in his bouncer with his ducky, laughing at crazy Mommy.
The last time I put Tynan into his tub he laughed for the first time. So tonight, I got all geared up and got the camera ready to capture another laugh but. . . no go. Why don't kids do exactly what we want them to? You'd think they had minds of their own or something! We still had a good time getting clean.
I didn't realize this video was so dark! But this is more of Tynan trying to turn onto his tummy but still getting hung up on his arm. (He moved his arm and finished the turn when I did not have the camera going, of course!) Today while he was napping he rolled onto his tummy in the bassinet. I can foresee troubles with this newfound mobility. . .
Not long after this video, I brought Tynan into the computer room and set him on his back on a blanket. Then I hooked up the camera to the computer. While I was copying pictures, Tynan rolled onto his side again. Then he moved his arm and turned all the way onto his tummy, and I couldn't tape it cause the camera was still hooked up to the computer!!! I was able to get an "after" picture at least:
I read somewhere that babies seem to do better with tummy time if they are naked. So before I put Ty in his jams, I put him on his tummy in his diaper (he doesn't really like tummy time - his doctor says reflux babies usually don't). He kicked so hard while he was on his tummy that he moved forward an inch or so! But then he got frustrated, so I turned him to his back for some quality video-taking time.
This smile is so sweet! Grandma Doreen is holding Tynan in this video. I had been having a hard time catching a smile on the video - he seems to have a knack for smiling only when the camera is not recording - so I was pretty happy to get it.

My mom told me that Tynan would do things that would amaze me. I put him down for some tummy time on the Boppy pillow and saw him going for his monkey rattle like nobody's business. After being overwhelmed with amazement and several other happy-type feelings, I grabbed the camera and managed to document it too! Soon after this video, Tynan fell asleep on the Boppy. He looked so cute that I reached for the camera again, but the sound it makes when it turns on made him open one eye for the picture. And that's the story behind the picture that is currently at the top of this blog :-)
