Picasso Jr.

5.3.10

Welcome to Tynan's Art Show. He calls this piece "Carrots + Blue Crayon." It is a wax/food on linoleum.

Tynan told me he calls this one "Crayon on Fresh Paint." It is a continuation of his "Blue Crayon" series. He must be having a Blue Crayon Period.

Well, at least the budding artist isn't too afraid to get his hands dirty. . . Or clean!
P.S. Not long after completing his first set of masterpieces, Tynan stripped himself and weeweed on our living room curio. If there was any doubt we have a toddler on our hands, it's obliterated now!

First Sunburn

4.19.10

Pull out the baby book! This one goes on the Parents of the Year Awards page! Tynan got his first sunburn today. His cheeks and arms are pink. He neck is VERY pink, but you can't see it too well in this picture. Tynan is not very good at holding still for pictures for some strange reason.
;-)

Animal Time!

4.18.10

Grandma Doreen and Grandpa Bob came for a weekend visit. The weather was really nice and we decided to go to the zoo. Here is Tynan helping Grandma put on sunscreen on the drive over.

Here is Tynan being too timid to feed the goats. Silly boy! I could tell when he saw the animals. He thinks anything with four legs is a dog, and he will bark. He also says "doggie" but it kind of sounds like "daddy."

Tynan probably had the most fun on the slide. He came out like this, laughing. He jumped up and ran to the stairs to do it again!

This picture is kind of sweet. I wish the digital camera didn't have such a delay though. It would have been better with different timing. (They are each raising a leg. Kind of reminiscent of a row of urinals in a public bathroom!)

Easter Knit

4.8.10

I found a pattern for a kid's jacket that is knit sideways and thought it looked pretty cool. So I made one for Tynan out of a self-striping yarn. I wanted to put him in his white button-up shirt and the jacket and take Easter photos. He decided he didn't want to wear either thing, and he didn't want no pictures niether. Neener neener!

So then, a couple of days after we got home, Tynan decided he would finally put on his jacket. I still wanted to take a picture, so I left his Green Bay shirt on. (Who knows what would happen if I tried to change his shirt while he was in picture mode.) He also has an enourmous bruise on his left check. He fell and hit his cheek against something and gave it to himself. Poor kid!

So here is my poor battered boy for his easter portrait: sitting on our old (read: kinda dirty) chair, wearing a knit pastel jacket over super studly sports team merchandise. Silly boy!

Easter Visit

4.2.10-4.5.10

Tynan and I went to visit the grandparents for Easter. Shawn had to come later because of work. I was the lonely parent for a couple of days during a trip with inconsistent nap times and lots of new faces. I'm still recovering a week later! This first picture is Tynan with Grandma Wendy after his bath. He was afraid of the bathtub at first, but after we gave him the measuring cup to play with we had a hard time getting him out.

Here is Tynan eating his Easter candy. He had a bit of trouble with his mini candy bars so I had to tough it up and help him eat them. He was pretty grateful for the assistance too.
We went to Easter breakfast at Grandpa Eric's sister's house. (What does that make her to Tynan? Great Aunt Jone? What is a great aunt, exactly?) Here is Tynan playing airplane with Aunt Paige. He had a lot of fun at Jone's house cause there was so much stuff he could get into!
Later, Aunt Paige hid a bunch of eggs for Tynan to find. It is very difficult trying to get a 21-month-old to look for or pick up Easter eggs! He gets distracted pretty easily. He also kept throwing the eggs into the basket after he grabbed them. This means that we had to make a bunch of deviled eggs as soon as we got inside.

The next day, Tynan was able to play with all of his cousins. Grandma Doreen wanted a picture of all of her grandkids together, so we lined them up on a couch and had at it with two cameras. You can see how well that went over with Tynan. . .

I think this might be the best picture I got, and it's not really that great. Jaylee and Camden are looking at Grandma Doreen's camera, Tynan looks like he'd rather be getting his temperature taken with a rectal thermometer, and Gavin looks none too happy that we pulled him from his handheld game system. Oh, the joys of child rearing. . . ;-)

Dance-along

3.21.10

A coworker of mine loaned me some Veggie Tales for Tynan, as her son had outgrown them. Tynan loves them! I knew he had to be feeling better when I saw him dancing and singing along to Veggie Tales.

Tynan's favorite songs are "Itsy Bitsy Spider," for the hand gestures, "Old McDonald," for the chorus ("Ee-i ee-i ee-i ee-i ee-i!"), and "Endangered Love" from Veggies Tales Silly Songs. Silly boy!

Tummy Troubles

3.20.10

This is Tynan, all tuckered out and asleep on the floor. I took him to the park this day and he acted like he was having a lot of fun, but I should have realized that something was up when he didn't get upset when we were leaving. (Usually we have to drag him kicking and screaming to the car.) Sure enough, poor Tynan threw up all over the floor in the science fiction section of the book store about twenty minutes after we left the park. We had to cut our errands outing short and head home for more vomit fun. Eventually he dozed off on the floor just before Shawn got home with Children's Pepto. Poor guy!

Tynan Texting

3.17.10

Shawn and I got new cell phones (the old ones had about had it!) and Tynan has been having a blast with Shawn's old phone. He likes to sit next to me in the same pose I am in and "chat" on his phone.

He also likes to "text" on his phone. It is so cute!

This picture is Mommy doing her usual self-picture stuff. I thought it turned out pretty well, and Tynan had a great smile. I just had pneumonia again last weekend, and this day was the first day I felt somewhat human. I am going for a physical in a couple of days, and I've been told I should see an allergist and maybe get treated for asthma or something. Hopefully I don't have to get friggin' pneumonia ever again.

Tynan's "Uncle Wesley Pants"

3.14.10

Grandma Wendy found a bunch of 2T clothes for a great deal and mailed them to Tynan. He was excited and wanted to try some on. A couple of items have a little bit extra growing room, like this pair I call the "Uncle Wesley Pants."

See how they are kinda long and baggy and his bottom is hanging out? That's how Uncle Wesley wears his pants! (Sorry Wes, I love ya but it's true ;-)
