Here is Tynan in the treehouse. We have a picture of him in the treehouse when he was about 7 months old. I think it is posted on the blog for April 09. (I can't put it in this post right now because it's on the external hard drive and I'm being lazy and don't want to find the external hard drive, hook it up, upload the picture, or move the picture around in the post. I just got off work after a 10 hour shift and that sounds way too hard right now!)


Tynan was afraid to sit in the car alone, so Christy got in with him. Silly boy!

He loved riding the tigers!

He really liked feeding the goats and sheep. I was so happy because he wasn't afraid of them this time. There was a pregnant goat that kept butting the other animals aside to get to us.

I haven't posted in quite a while. It seems like things are so hectic! I have a milestone birthday coming up, a friend just got married and we attended the wedding and bachelorette party and bridal shower, I went to my first concert in three years, and we've all had various assorted dental work and illnesses and work meetings going on. Plus, I've been knitting all year, and here it is less than 3 months before Christmas and my pile of completed knit gifts is woefully small. Gaaah! Things are insane!

The Best Toys Aren't Toys

Mommy and Daddy decided that it was time for a new TV. Then the new TV wouldn't fit in the old entertainment center so the only thing left to do was get a new TV stand, of course! Daddy worked on assembling it all day (and did a pretty good job of it too, thanks hon!). Things hadn't been moved into it yet, though, so Tynan decided it was his own personal playground and dining area. He was having so much fun climbing through it that he was all hot and sweaty. He was very angry when we got the electronics into it and locked the cupboards.

He loves his rice cakes.

Park 'n' Burgers

Daddy just had his birthday the other day, so we went to the park and out to eat to celebrate. Daddy and Tynan got to try out the enormous kid swings. Tynan thought it was pretty funny that Daddy didn't fit.

Here is stinker butt at the restaurant. We're pretty sure we can't go out to eat anymore because someone refuses to sit in a high chair or booster seat. Or even to sit!

Letter Factory

I bought a Leap Frog DVD for Tynan and he was absolutely enthralled! His enunciation seems to be getting clearer too. Which should be good but might be bad. . . Wink wink!

Tynan has been known to take a bite out of every apple while I am unloading the rest of the grocery bags. Placing the bag up high didn't seem to faze him either. . .

He keeps getting taller too!

Age 2 Celebration #2

We celebrated Tynan's birthday for the 2nd time on the day after his real birthday. . . Cause that's just how it worked out! I figured he couldn't be too angry - he got 2 birthday parties, after all! Here is Tynan in the pool in the back yard (our pool is not as big as Grandma Wendy & Grandpa Eric's!) fresh after a repeat sunscreen application. He was in that pool for so long he was a little raisin when he finally came out. Grandma Doreen, Grandpa Bob, and Great Aunt Lynn all came to town for the weekend. Tynan kept pulling people into the pool with him. It was a very hot day, but there just isn't enough room for 3 people in a kiddie pool.


Later we grilled lots of, ahem, super healthy food. Here is Tynan eating his cheeseburger. He absolutely refuses to sit in his high chair now. Stinker.


Here is Tynan clapping after he blew out his candle (with a little help, of course). He still didn't know what the whole birthday song was all about.

Tynan got to open more presents. One of the things he got was his own little tool set. Maybe now he can stop stealing Daddy's tools!

This kid is so funny. He pulled out the screwdriver from his brand new, freshly opened tool kit and used it to open his next present. Good thing that screwdriver is made out of plastic. I shudder to think of the damage he could accomplish with the real thing!

Age 2 Celebration #1

I had a Monday off for the holiday, so we packed up the car and drove to see family for the weekend. Here is Tynan at the 4th of July parade. He had no idea why people were throwing candy, but he really liked the motorcycles! I packed a jacket just in case, but didn't think he'd need it while we were outside. Turned out to be a bit colder than home, plus I forgot to bring the jacket in Grandma Wendy's car. Poor Tynan! Luckily, Grandma Wendy had a beach towel in her back seat. So that was how Tynan ended up wearing a beach towel at his first parade.


Later, we had a great big barbecue at Grandma Wendy's house. Grandpa Eric grilled up tasty things while all of the cousins played in the pool. Then we all sang to Tynan with a cake that Grandma Wendy made. Tynan had no idea what was going on! I love the expression on his face!



He understood the present opening part pretty well. . .

We ended the day with fireworks, of course. I was afraid Tynan would be afraid of them, like last year, but he had a blast! (Ha ha, 4th of July humor!) He clapped with the cousins and generally ran amok. Shawn and I were pooped out from chasing Tynan around all day, trying to keep him from throwing rocks in the swimming pool or getting to close to the chimenea or the fireworks or running out toward the street or letting the dog out, etc. etc. Plus, Tynan was up until after midnight and was totally wound up. It was crazy!

Bouncy Boys

After we returned, Tynan kinda wouldn't let us out of his sight. (Poor guy - I don't blame him!) He still managed to have a lot of fun with his cousins. Here he is with his cousin Camden.

So I guess I still haven't figured out yet that the camera shows videos as much brighter than they actually are. . . But Tynan and Camden are having so much fun I just had to post this one anyway. Tynan is so big for his age! Camden is almost 2 years older!

Not for the Faint of Heart

Right before we left for our vacation, Tynan contracted pinkeye. (I like to say, "Thanks, Daycare!" though it could just as easily be toddler hygeine. . . mental shudder.) So Grandma Wendy and Grandpa Eric and Aunt Nikki had the oh-so-enviable task of holding Tynan down to put drops in his eyes about 4 times per day.

On this particular day, Grandma Wendy heard the sounds of Tynan waking up in his portable crib. She walked in and found. . .

Grandma Wendy thought it was because he wasn't getting his eye drops quite as often as the instructions called for (who wants to make a toddler scream 4 times a day?). The doctor, though, warned us that he likes to prescribe the cheap drops first but that they have a high incidence of allergic reaction. Hard to say; Grandma Wendy stepped up Tynan's dosing regiment and the swelling was gone by the time Shawn and I arrived. If is was an allergy, wouldn't it have gotten worse?

Anyway, here is a scary scary photo. . . Something to make me feel guilty forever for going on vacation!

The Good Life

While mommy and daddy were away, Tynan got away with anything he wanted. Here he is at Grandma Wendy's shop. It looks like he got into everything before sitting down to eat tasty cheetos. It's hard to tell for sure on this cellphone pic, but it looks like he's pretty orange!
