Beer Fest

8.9.09

Okay I know I am very very very behind on posts. . . D'oh! We bought a house, packed, moved, cleaned the old place, and (mostly) unpacked at the new house. So I think that calls for a little leeway, right? Eh? Eh?

On this day we all went to a beer festival. Shawn and I sampled different brews while Tynan sweated off his blue tinted sunscreen. (It is supposed to turn clear when it soaks in. I don't know if Tynan has my fair skin or I used way too much - he looked like an alien baby for most of the day!) To cool off, we went walking through the water fountain. Shawn had to sit out for a while because I made him drink the beers I didn't like. When we got home, both boys had to nap to recover from the heat!

Who Dat?

This is so funny! This video is especially for Aunt Nikki. She was the one who started playing with the phone with Tynan. The other day he even tried to hold his toy television remote up to his ear, like it was a cell phone! What a cutie. The outfit is supercute too. Tynan got it for his birthday from Christy. Thanks, Christy! :-)

Walking!

8.2.09

Here is a little video especially for Grandma Wendy. I took this video a week ago and already Tynan's walking has improved so much! We went to a water park yesterday and I was able to walk alongside Tynan, holding his hand. So much easier on Mommy's back! Keep practicing!

Aunt Sarah's Visit

7.18 - 7.19.09

The weekend after Tynan's birthday, we had a barbecue get-together. (Tynan basically got 3 celebrations and cupcakes for his birthday. Spoiled, what?) Aunt Sarah just happened to be flying over to visit Tynan's new baby cousin. So she and Grandma Doreen drove over for an overnight visit. She and Tynan wrestled and got into all sorts of crazy shenanigans.

Tynan also got to try out his new wader pool. He soaked everything within a three foot radius. He complained when we took him out but he was pretty chilled!

Facing Forward

7.13.09

This is a fun little video of how hap-hap-happy Tynan is to have his seat turned around. I don't think we would have been able to make it home if he had not been able to face forward! Why don't kids like carseats? They don't like to be confined in a five point harness in a reclined chair with little to no airflow? I mean, what's the deal?

Hi Rich and Sue!

7.12.09

After the haircut, Shawn and I took Tynan over to visit with Rich and Sue. Rich and Sue's son just got married the day before. Many people in town for the wedding brought their dogs, so there were several canines running all over the place for Tynan to chase after. Maybe we should look into getting a dog of our own. . .

Rich checking out Tynan's birthday shoes and super awesome guitar shirt.

Later, we went up to Grandma Wendy's house again. She found a walker at a yard sale for Tynan to use because he still falls so often and we didn't want him to hurt himself on the patio. He loved it! He was going around and around in circles and knocking over chairs. Here he is trying to catch some bubbles. I need to add a bubble machine to the list of things I'd like to get.

The Haircut

7.12.09

Here is a "before" picture of Tynan's hair. (Try not to look at the porker sitting next to him please!) We visited Grandma Wendy's salon for an interesting experience. I read some silly superstition somewhere that it was bad luck to cut a boy's hair before his first birthday. Consequently, his coiffure reached Ensteinian proportions before I would let anyone approach him with scissors. Grandma Wendy had her work cut out for her!

Things weren't going well until we gave Tynan another first; his first Tootsie Pop! It was covered in hair in approximately 0.743289 seconds, but it did the trick.

And here is the "after" picture! I love it because it is so much shorter but still oh-so-curly. Thanks, Grandma Wendy!

Frosting Part 2

7.11.09

Here is a funny video of Tynan practicing with silverware. Who knew that all we had to do to get him to use a spoon was cover it in frosting?

Fireworks!

7.4.09

I meant to put this post before the birthday post but it didn't work out that way. But anyways Tynan was NOT a fan of the fireworks! We lit three before we gave up. The fountains that we had were bright and flashy and not very loud so I thought they would be okay. Unfortunately, our neighbors kept setting off artillery shells. We set the fireworks aside to try again next year. So sad!

ONE YEAR OLD!

7.10.09

Well. . . We made it! Tynan turned one! I am still in awe. Here is Tynan trying frosting, covering himself and a good portion of the dining room in red frosting. Some of those stains will remain forever!

Here is Tynan opening his present from his auntie. He got lots of cute summer clothes and all sorts of visits with family. What a cutie!

Here is Tynan having a blast with Uncle Wesley. Tynan reminds me of Wes all of the time. It's kind of weird/freaky sometimes!

Here is Tynan trying to figure out his "Fun to Be One" candle. He had no idea why we were all singing to him.
This past year has been nothing like I expected. It has also been so much fun! Tynan has been toddling around, taking shakey steps here and there. He got some real shoes (no more guitar shoes, so sad!) for his birthday. They are basically awesome. He has become Mr. Independent with food. He pretty much has to feed himself, which has made for some interesting stains. He is in the 80th percentile for height and the 60th for weight, which is good, but he's almost off the charts for head circumference. He has a super head! He's getting good with sippy cups and loves cars, electronics, cardboard boxes, lint, fuzz, being tickled, being chased, swinging on swings, and cheese. We love our wonderful boy!
