Moving Along

Looking back over these posts, I realize that we put Tynan in his Green Bay jammies a lot. I swear, he does have other jammies!

This video is what happens when Daddy teaches Tynan how to start moving forward instead of leaving Tynan alone with his perfectly acceptable inching backward routine. Not that I'm against encouraging Tynan! I just prefer to do it after we've finished babyproofing!

Rehydrating. . . Or not

Unfortunately we don't have a picture of Tynan's face at his first taste of Pedialyte. We decided to offer him some because his appetite has been so low with this illness that he is a little bit dehydrated. Shawn put it in a bottle and gave it to Tynan. Tynan started sucking eagerly, tasted the Pedialyte, and whipped the bottle out of his mouth. He stared at it a moment, decided it was the same type of bottle he usually gets, put it back in his mouth and began to suck a second time. Once again, though, upon tasting something other than milk, he whipped it out of his mouth. After that, he refused any more, and Shawn had to warm a bottle of milk. Next I want to try offering it in a cup. It seems our boy believes that bottles are for milk only!

First ER Visit

Well, I always wondered if having a boy would mean having more trips to the ER. . . From what I understand boys tend to be little daredevils who keep getting fractures or lacerations. But I was hoping we could make it through the first year at least without an ER visit! Tynan was diagnosed with RSV, or bronchiolitis. He had to have several breathing treatments until his blood oxygen levels came back up to the mid-90's. They were going to admit him if the levels stayed too low, but they finally came up. He also had a chest x-ray and an influenza test. By the end of the visit I was afraid he'd never forgive me! He is doing better today, but he still needs to be seen by his pediatrician, probably for more breathing treatments. I think part of the reason they did not admit him was because he kept smiling and interacting with the doctor and nurses. In this picture he is playing with Shawn's hat. Tynan's a trouper! (And a flirt!)

Thiiiiiiis Close to Crawling!

Tynan is practicing and practicing for crawling! The first video is dark but it really scares me how much he bounces around while he's up on all fours. He scoots backwards too - in the second video he started on the blanket but as you can see he is nowhere near the blanket anymore!

Six Month Appointment

Tynan had his six month check up today. He is in the 90th percentile for height and weight! I guess he's building up a nice layer to power him through the next few months. You know, when he starts to crawl and really, really, really gets into everything. (And we already thought we were insane with sleep deprivation!) He got his six month shots too. I am sick of these vaccinations. I know they're good for him and everyone around him, but for the couple of days afterwards he is a fussy fussy boy! I need to invent "fuss-less" vaccinations. Ones that do not cause sleep disturbances. I'd make a fortune. What parent wouldn't want them?

Six Months Old!

Tynan is half a year old today! I can't believe it! So far, he can roll over both ways, do a baby pushup, get up on all fours, stand in our laps when we help him, spit out solid food, chomp on our fingers with his teeth, babble, play with his toys, and sit up when we help him. He stopped sleeping through the night though, darnit! I think his teeth keep waking him. He chews on everything! I've heard people say babies put things in their mouths cause that's how they learn about things. I don't think that's the case with Tynan - he is just trying to make his poor little gums feel better!

Carrots? Bleh!

Tynan does not seem to like solid food. . . Every time we give him a mouthful he makes a funny face! So far we've tried carrots, peas, and even pears, but he still makes the craziest faces. Today he closed one eye and did a whole body shudder. What are we gonna do with our little picky boy?

Well, here are Tynan's sharp little chompers. They both popped up together on December 28th. Poor guy. He has been teething for months!
